Hi, I just got a number of smart scene switches (these Tuya ZigBee 3.0 Smart Scene Switch Wireless Free Sticker Wall Scene Switch Push Button Battery Powered Transmitter Alexa| | - AliExpress with 1, 2 and 3 buttons) but I can’t understand how to set them up so that HA can see them.
I have a Zigbee Conbee usb bridge, the deCONZ component and they work fine with the Aqara sensors I have. No way to pair with the switches, but I noticed that the “deCONZ application through VNC” sees them linked to the bridge. I read some forum posts (not about the very same switch model, I know, but still) and I tried to install the Zigbee2MQTT component as suggested, but I’m not able to get it working either.
Is there something I’m missing? I do need a Tuya hub?
@degra you can’t have both deCONZ & Zigbee2MQTT going at the same time with a single coordinator. If you want to use Z2M you’d have to disconnect your Conbee from deCONZ and switch to Z2M and setup all your ZigBee devices again. I have a MOES/Tuya 2 button switch that is a slightly different model than yours and I was able to get it setup no problem in Z2M. This sounds like perhaps a deCONZ issue as I’m not sure why your other ZigBee devices through deCONZ are showing up in HA but these switches aren’t. All of my devices coming from Z2M show up under my MQTT broker integration and are generally always auto-discovered.
thanks for the heads up, but even with deCONZ disabled, I cannot set Z2M up. In the meantime I got a Tuya gateway, which is seen by the Tuya app and the switches are automatically recognized by the gateway. But the gateway cannot be set up in HA by Tuya or LocalTuya integrations (LocalTuya sees the gateway, but I get an error when adding it to the integration).
Well, I’m not sure what your challenge is with setting up Z2M, you do have to have an MQTT Broker setup first, I use the Mosquitto MQTT add-on. Z2M connects to the MQTT Broker and it’s there where you would find your devices in HA. That’s all off topic and there are a lot of other posts and YouTube videos on setting that up.
Hopefully some avid deCONZ users can jump in and help you out with the deCONZ issue. Are you not even seeing the devices in deCONZ when you navigate to that in HA? I find it odd that you mention using VNC as I thought I’ve seen people using deCONZ right within HA.
Well, after removing both deCONZ and Zigbee2MQTT integrations and rebooting the RPi, HA automatically detected the Conbee key and then I could pair every Aqara sensor and the smart scene switches apparently without any integration. That I didn’t expect, but it’s pretty convenient.
@degra yeah, that the built-in Zigbee Home Assistant (ZHA) integration. Here’s a YouTube video that compares them.
After watching this video, before I even started with ZIgbee, I had decided on Z2M(Zigbee2MQTT).
degra, did that integration worked well?
I have the same switch connected with tuya gateway (zigbee), but HA integration says its nos supported
Yes, the built-in integration worked flawlessly since then
