Twinkly Integration: Twinkly groups

It’s possible to map multiple sets of lights together in the Twinkly app into a single group. Said group can include a photogrammetric map of the LED position so the effects ripple correctly.

The Twinkly integration appears to be device based (i.e. treats each set of lights as a solo entity). Is it possible to surface the Twinkly native groups into Home Assistant for elegant control?

Thanks,
CT

I find it does this (kind of). My 3 sets of string lights on my tree, mapped in the app as one set, all turn on / off correctly with the entity coming into HA. What I do find though is it doesn’t like setting the brightness and things, which do apply to just one set of lights only. Definitely something funky.

Just for clarity - does the abstract group appear in HA or just the individual lights?

I had a play and found that on/off kind of worked as a multi-master affair, with turning one device on resulting in the whole group coming on. Effects seemed workable, if unreliable. I think to get the group to respond to an effect, you have to use a group-compiled effect, which makes sense. I need to play more.

However, I’m yet to observe an entity for the Twinkly Group.

Ahh so in HA I only had one entity, not 3. It was definitely acting weird but it worked for on/off. Definitely needs some work, although not holding out much hope. There are git issues already, maybe should add this there Issues · home-assistant/core · GitHub

I have twinkly AWW edition - change between different white colors
Is it pssible to change the white color in HA, now only can toggle and select an effect.
