I’m currently trying to think of a way to impliment some dimmer switches to my install, in short I think zwave is out cause I use hyper-v so no usb passthrough. I was looking at the lightwave kit but it seems quite pricey. I’m almost tempted to use hue with a sonoff to do the actual switching then the hue for the brightness… but again gonna be very expensive
Surely there is a better solution for this?
Thanks in advance
Don’t bother with ‘switching’, what’s the point? Just get the Hue bulbs (or innr, or whatever the IKEA ones are called)
Then everything has to be done via HA, what if you have guests round? Or if HA is down?
Im am not suicidal so everything must work even without HA🎄
I think you have things the wrong way around. You are letting your choice of OS (Hyper-V) determine what lights you can use. Choose the lights you want and then find a platform that supports them. I recommend and support Hyper-V for my clients and my business network, but my HA Z-Wave install runs under Ubuntu on a NUC.
Or via the Hue dimmers, or the Hue tap, or the IKEA equivalent of those, or Alexa, or Google home, or motion sensors, or any of the other millions of ways that people who don’t have homeassistant use Hue/alike systems.

I’m not sure if you ever found any, but i’ve been looking for this for my bathroom.
Shelly are just releasing dimmers with MQTT built in. Due out beginning of November. You can keep your switch, keep HA and keep your sanity!
Just preordered one…
It came today !
Gotta figure out how to get it into home assistant now !
