Looking for thoughts and discussion on improving my heating setup. I have a fairly standard UK combi boiler that is currently controlled via a Nest thermostat / heat link.
This works reasonably well but heating is controlled solely by the thermostat in the kitchen.
I have considered moving to a smart TRV setup for some time but the cost and various other things have put me off.
What I ideally want is:
- Individual control of the temperature in several key rooms.
- Great integration with HA
- No required cloud connection / subscription
- The Nest pre-heating feature (ie. when I set a schedule for 19°C at 7am I want it to work out when it needs to turn on in order to hit that temperature at 7am)
I don’t need any control of hot water or the ability to learn my schedule or anything like that.
I guess smart TRVs are the only viable option (although dumb TRVs and individual room thermostats could work if I can figure out how to control the boiler Zigbee Dry Contact Switch UK for Boiler) but any comments on specific TRVs or other things for consideration from anyone who has already gone down this route would be appreciated
