UK - USB power from E27 light fitting for security camera

Does anyone know of any ways of powering a security camera from a E27 light fitting? Ideally without having to remove the light.

I have a ZigBee bulb in a waterproof outdoor light l box, so I never de-power it.

It like to install a WiFi security camera, but I don’t want to/am not allowed to run new 240v power and there’s no easy way to run PoE.

The US and Canada have this LampCharger — Your Site Title but I can’t find something similar in the UK.

You could build that with e27 led bulb and 240v to 5vdc converter. But it would be much easier to wire converter directly under the light fixture.

Would this work for you?

DiCUNO E26 2 Outlet Light Socket Adapter, UL Listed, E26 Bulb Socket to 2-Prong Polarized Outlet Splitter

Use an extension cord to keep adapter away from heat of bulb? Not used this myself, just an idea.

No! the light bulb is an E27 fitting.

E26 and e27 fitting is same…

I didn’t link anything. But Kdem proposed some extension cord with lamp socket.

You could get one of these.
I don’t know if they exist for UK style or if it’s only for Europlug.
But it should be fairly easy to buy a Europlug to USB.

But these has been banned for a very long time here.
The reason they got banned are probably not much of an issue today, it was because people overloaded the wires.
A LED bulb and a camera will not overload the wires.
But if they are banned in UK also then I would believe you make your insurance invalid whatever happens.

Only if it’s related to your insurance case.
How many % of aliexpress devices really are approved in Europe? Single digit perhaps…

How big is the enclosure? UK Wiring Regs allow you to spur a standard socket-outlet from a lighting circuit in specific low-power cases. So if you have a friendly electrician, or are competent yourself and if there is room, you could fit a socket-outlet in the enclosure and plug in the mains adapter for the camera.
