i3 Engineering is a Ukrainian company. Their solutions for smart home projects and business automation consist of controllers, software, and the i3 Home mobile app. The key feature of their controllers is a smart home without the need for smart devices. There is no need to search for devices that support a specific protocol; they can be replaced with any other regular device. Additionally, the system can be configured without knowledge of programming languages or complex software and computers— all that is needed is the mobile app.
IoT Devices is one of the devices from the GGreg20 company. It is a precise radioactive particle sensor detector (commonly but incorrectly referred to as a dosimeter) based on the SBM-20 tube, designed for use in a personal Geiger counter (also known as a radiometer) and for measuring ionizing radiation levels (beta and gamma) both indoors and outdoors.
The detector includes an output for pulse counting to the main controller. A controller, such as an ESP32, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, or STM32, needs to be connected for operation.
The advantage of this device is that it is not an emulator. The difference between an emulator and a detector is that an emulator does not have a tube or other means for real radiation measurement. The simulation is performed programmatically at the embedded MCU level.
With a detector equipped with a tube, the radiation is measured in reality. The measurement results are transmitted as a pulsed electrical current to the output pins (GPIO), from which the pulses can be read using any MCU.
A drawback of such sensors is that the discharge inhibitor inside the tube wears out over time, but it has a lifespan of about 10^12-10^14 clicks, which should be sufficient for long-term use in normal environmental conditions. If the tube is heavily “irradiated,” it will need to be replaced.
