Ultra High Frequency (UHF ) RFID reader for parking barrier or gate

gooday

there is a cool thing about parking barriers that detects the RFID tags and open the barrier as due

this is the rifd reader
it have rx tx and other outputs

i was wondering if i can combine it with an esp and let it talks through mqtt on which if the rfid reader was triggered the esp send to the IR transmitter to transmit the ir code to the IR receiver ( that of the motor gate of barrier) and sens me a notification on my phones about who entered the parking

is this applicable ?

do anyone have exp. about this or already made this ?

best…

Yes. I have used esp8266 and rfid on a daily basis for over two years.
Espeasy supports those readers out of the box, they use the weigand protocol and are fully supported. In my case it was really rock solid.

I published the readings using MQTT to Domoticz and later to home assistant. However I hardcoded the rules into the espeasy in order to be able to control the door lock even when ha was down. The readings where used to set off the alarm and turn on lights for example.

No need to look further, espeasy is the answer. Using the rules engine you can control a gpio pin when a valid card has been detected.

This is my wife demonstrating the old version, before we had esp8266 modules

Good luck.
