Unable to access Home Assistant due to Cloudflared addon error

Hello,

I’m facing a critical issue where my Home Assistant instance has become inaccessible via the web browser, mobile apps, or voice assistants. This is what I know:

  • Environment: Home Assistant running on Oracle VMWare. I have full console access and can execute commands successfully.
  • Suspected Cause: The supervisor logs indicate an error with the Cloudflared addon. It appears to be sending excessive requests, which may be blocking Home Assistant from functioning correctly. Additionally, my Cloudflared account no longer shows any configured Zero Trust setup.
  • Troubleshooting Attempts:
    • I’ve verified that the Cloudflared addon is indeed installed.
    • However, console commands to stop, update, or uninstall Cloudflared fail with an “addon does not exist” error.

I urgently need help with either of the following:

  1. Uninstalling Cloudflared: Guidance on forcibly uninstalling Cloudflared without using the web interface and despite the console’s error messages.
  2. Alternative Solutions: Any suggestions to fix the issue or access Home Assistant in safe mode.

You probably have some bots hitting your instance. You can disable the ban feature in your configuration.yaml. But I wouldn’t leave it banned for long. After you can get back in, login to cloudflare and set up WAF rule to only allow from your country. This is what I do in Canada and have not had an issue.

section of configuration.yaml

http:
  use_x_forwarded_for: true
  trusted_proxies:
    - ::1
    - 127.0.0.1/32
    - 172.30.0.0/16
  # ip_ban_enabled: false
  # login_attempts_threshold: 50

Thank you. I am going to look this evening.
Not sure how I access the yaml file with no access to home assistant web browser but will give it a go

It seems that this solution will not work as I am unable to access the configuration.yaml file as I can’t get to the web browser.

I’m at a loss here. I’ve tried restoring backups, but I keep encountering errors. I can’t seem to access my configuration file. I believe Samba is installed, but it requires login credentials, and the ones I think I would’ve used aren’t working. Is there a default username and password?

I’ve attached my Home Assistant supervisor log files. It looks like Cloudflared is the source of the problem. Any attempts to install, uninstall, start, or stop Cloudflared from the command line result in errors.

VMWare or Oracle Virtualbox ? VMWare is property of Broadcom, not Oracle.

Anyway : if you have access to the console, enter

login
docker stop addon_9074a9fa_cloudflared

That should stop cloudflared add-on

Oh boy - everything I do I get errors and can get the browser working.
I deleted the Cloudflared addon and made sure everything was up to date and nothing. Here are the logs if anyone can help!!

And all your add-ons use gher instead of ghcr

OK, any recommendations as to what I can do :disappointed:

Only thing I can think of :

Create a new vm, go through onboarding, upload your backup, restore without add-ons, re-install your add-ons.

My back ups are all corrupted :0(
So if I want to start from scratch how do i do this - is there any recommended instructions?
