Unable to access page with VMware workstation instance of homeassistsnt

I had a VirtualBox installation of home assistant but I am wanting to switch over to VMware workstation due to bugs with updating which I heard isn’t an issue with VMware. It boots up and starts but I am unable to reach home assistant via the link. I’ve tried disabling all the virtual network drivers except the active one but no dice

Is HA getting an IP address?

no its not getting a IP address its just blank

Well that would be fatal wouldn’t it

yeah, i just cant figure out how to get it to work. the network is setup to bridge. I’ve uninstalled it and re-installed it and nothing. when I look it up I get guides that are a few years old and its telling me to use a program that no longer exists for vmware workstation. a virtual network editor

When I set up virtualbox, the HA image was a bit picky about what network controller emulation it worked with. When I got it right, it worked fine. Maybe this is also a problem with vmware. Just a guess as I don’t have vmware.

EDIT: added to that, does vmware create a terminal like virtualbox? You can log in there and see what networking is doing. In particular the ip command will display a lot of info.

I have the same issue going on. In my case, the VM is getting an IP just fine, and it looks just like it normally does when I boot up, but when I try to access the HA address, the connection says it is refused. I even spun up a new VM, with native out of the box new instance, and I get the same thing, I get an IP, but the server for the UI never resolves. It just happened out of no where. Working one day, gone the next with no changes. I figured I could solve it by spinning up the new VM, but when that did not work, I decided to just try a virgin install, but that did not work either.

I went in to look at the supervisor logs. They look fine,

When I go to look at the Core logs, I am getting some errors and it shows that the core is shutting down - exit code 1

Process exit code 256
Core process received signal 15

I cant interpret those however…

If core is not working then this is the reason you can’t connect. But without your logs, who can say?.
