I’ve recently installed thingino on a Wyze Cam v2 that previously had dafang-hacks installed on it. The camera appears to be working perfectly, but when I try to add the camera as a generic camera in HA, the process fails.
Thingino gives the camera an RTSP stream URL, but as far as I know there is no still image URL. HA seems to be expecting this URL, as although when you’ve entered all the details for the new device on the initial card and pressing submit gives you a new card saying “Everything looks good” once you press submit for the second time, it takes you back to the first card, and a continuous loop occurs that doesn’t add the camera. This seems to be a similar issue to github https://github.com/home-assistant/core/issues/75265
I’m using HA in a container, 2025.2.5, on a raspberry pi 4 with raspbian OS bookworm. The last version from the github issue above that is known to be working is 2022.9.6
I tried adding this as an issue in github at GitHub · Where software is built but it would not create after filling in the entire form, no errors given.
Thanks. The guy on the thingino discord was very surprised I got the flash to work with a 256GB SD, he was telling me put it on 32GB or smaller. I haven’t tried to flash but one camera tonight, wanted to see what I was getting into.
I have the same issue when I try to add the camera in “Generic Camera”. The still image shows but the stream doesn’t show up in the confirmation preview window even though it works just fine in VLC, Go2RTC and WEBRTC.
The timeout error message is:
Error starting stream, see logs for details (Stream never started)
Incidentally, I have the exact same problem with my all my Tapo cameras although the Tapo cameras do not produce a still image or if they do, I don’t know how to get it.
Just wanted to add here that following @Derex example, I was able to add a camera. The preview never worked, but I went ahead and submitted anyway and the snapshot and stream are working.
Got mine working using @Derex example. My still image popped up but the video feed didn’t. Checked the box that says everything is okay and submitted. The video feed showed up when I checked it. Sound included.
