Unable to add Z-Wave USB to Home Assistant

Hello, I’m having issues getting my Z-Wave USB added to home assistant. I’m using a Zooz ZST10 500 series with a 6 ft USB extension cable. I used this stick before, but have since moved and am starting over. I’ve gone through the steps recommended by Zooz to do a factory reset on the ZST10 via Simplicity Studio PC Controller. My home assistant seems to crash each time I try to set up the stick. It becomes unresponsive and I have to physically disconnect power & unplug the ZST10, then reconnect power for it to come back.

Raspberry Pi
Home Assistant OS 14.0
Core 2024.7.0
Supervisor 2024.12.0
Frontend 20240703.0

When I plug the ZST10 into home assistant, it shows up as a new potential device in the Devices & services > Integration tab. I’ve tried all the USB ports my Raspberry Pi has, including the one I typically have my external SSD connected to.

  • I’ve tried adding the device through that menu, but the set up fails after entering the security keys.

  • I’ve also tried manually installing the official Z-Wave JS add-on (v0.9.0) and doing a manual configuration when starting that add-on, but the setup fails after I select the USB, enter the security keys, and click save. The Z-Wave JS logs say “Failed to get logs, unknown error. See supervisor logs.” When I try again while monitoring the supervisor logs, the supervisor logs say “Failed to get supervisor logs, unknown error. See supervisor logs”.

  • I’ve also tried installing the Z-Wave JS UI add-on (v3.18.0) and doing a manual setup. I get the same behavior as with the official add-on: everything crashes when I click save on the security keys config.

I contacted Zooz support and they had me add a node to the ZST10 through Simplicity Studio PC Controller. That worked fine, so they determined the stick was working correctly. The security keys I have been entering when attempting Home Assistant install have been the ones I see in Simplicity Studio PC Controller (there is a shield button that displays the security keys). I’ve tried leaving the keys blank and entering the Simplicity Studio ones with no luck.

Are there any version compatibility issues I may be experiencing? Or is there a different way to access the logs to see what is going on when everything crashes? My browser loses its connection to home assistant, so the logs stop populating.

I have a picture of the Z-Wave JS UI logs from an attempted install, but not sure if I’m adding the picture correctly here. The logs stop after the entry “DRIVER version 14.3.7”
