Unable to configure WLED

First post- Hello. I have searched and read the docs to no avail, hope someone can put me on the right track. Running HA from a PI 4, newest version. I have been using HA for all of 2 days so please bear with me. Now the issue: Setting up a set of lights with WLED seems simple, go to the the integrations page select WLED enter the host (IP of the lights) and connect. I have several WLD lights with different controllers and no matter which IP I enter I am only getting the Failed to connect error? What simple thing am I missing? Thank you.

That is very strange. Usually my new WLED boards are discovered by home assistant before I even get a chance to add them manually.

Do you have VLANs or anything exotic in your network setup?

What version of WLED are you running?

yes very strange

what happen if you put the ipaddress into the browser

hope it not 4.3.2.1 if it is then you have not setup the wifi stuff on the controller.

Are we actually talking about WLED, here?
Can you access the Webui of WLED?

Short answer- Problem is most likely the 12 inches between my forehead and keyboard- USER ERROR. I still have questions however, you can read the below or jump to the bottom.
Yes WLED, I missed a letter I see, WLED, by itself works fine I can not get HA to see any of my WLED lights. When I enter any of the IP’s from my controllers, Yes they are all static IP’s, into the “host” entry it just errors out with the failed to connect error. Pretty sure I have discovered what is going on though, I am going to check it in a minute. Without making this much longer I have a cable modem/router from my internet provider. HA is directly jacked into that and a few things run off the WIFI from that. The WIFI from the Provider setup sucks so I am running a Google mesh set up where 99% of my items, including all my WLED set ups are running off of. I am assuming the only reason it won’t work is HA can’t see them. I am further assuming as soon as I put them on the provider WIFI it is going to work. Sticking with that idea- NEW PROBLEM/QUESTION -The provider wifi is going to cause me the same issues as before so how can I use both set ups and still get HA to see everything? Thanks.

Tom and @myle - See my response above. as is the issue 99% of the time I think it was user error, but I do still have an issue if you don’t mind looking at my last post. Thanks

Sounds like your wifi is on a seperate subnet. Can you connect the Google wifi in bridged mode?

This seems to indicate WLED can work with Google Wifi mesh:

I have no idea if I can or not Tom? Thanks for link. I just cruised through it real quick, I need to go back through to and see if there is any info about bridging it with my provider network.- that person was doing it wrong- All my WLED lights run off Google mesh- my issue is trying to get HA to see both the networks, I did install the google wifi integration and it brought everything over but I still could not get them to connect- I think that integration may identify them as entities instead of devices? Can I manually change that in HA? It was causing unrelated issues with double and tripling things so for now I uninstalled it.

I doubt that is your problem.

Give the WLED devices static IP addresses so you are not relying on mDNS, and configure them manually in Home assistant using the IP addresses and it should work.

I have the same problem too. 5 WLEDs work well. And one doesn’t work. After the first ESP32 firmware, it was added to Home Assistant. Then I removed it from Homas and now it is not added at all. Changed the IP address of WLED. Reset it several times. Nothing helps
