Unable to connect to Home Assistant after clicking update. Not sure how to proceed. Details included

Version 0.105.3 Rasp pi 4
Pretty new to HA and I have an issue. First post, but I’m trying to include everything and use proper formatting… sorry for any fails. I’m not sure how to get other logs from pi but included what I could.

What I was doing: Was working on some changes, saw an update pending for HA and clicked update. I was also in another tab with Tasmota up for a switch and edited its name (moved from office to mbr).

When HA rebooted I’m getting “Unable to connect to Home Assistant”. I’ve searched the forums and found quite a few entries but seems to depend on the log file in the config dir. I looked but didn’t see anything obvious except a ton of “ERROR setting up component …” What should I find to help someone with a bigger brain help me?

Try removing mobile_app from your configuration.yaml.

are you running hassio now called home assistant or are you running home assistant core?

mobile_app entry not in my configuration.yaml.

I’m running hass.io in rasp pi 4

do you have the ssh hassio addon installed
if so ssh in and type hassio ha check that should allow you to see any config errors also try removing device_tracker from your config if you have that as I see it in the error log

I’m not sure… I can log into root on the hassio from the rasp pi. I have the samba share installed to access the main HASSIO area. I did a check config on the hassio and it said it passed.

Have you tried sudo reboot and restarting the whole Pi?

I’m sure there are errors in the logs anyway but it should still work - maybe you need to wait a little longer for it to fully start.

yeah it should start

Are you using home assistant with a phone?

Home Assistant would still start in safe mode even if their are config errors

Not if it’s discovery and his errors directly reference mobile_app.

run ha stop then delete your home assistant db file then do a full reboot of the pi

I have done multiple reboots.

I removed device_tracker and rebooted. No change. Log is quite different. I’m new to linux… is there a way for me to look through the log on the hassio without it scrolling by?

If the checker shows no errors then it should work. Has the IP address changed or have you tried in another browser?

Actually, I missread the error log. Looks like WLED configured in your integrations page in the UI is recursively erroring.

EDIT: Just ignore me, nothing is recursive, just a ton of new component integration errors.

First, thanks so much for all the help. Extremely responsive. I did the ha stop, db delete and reboot. Still same.

How do I remove the WLED on the integrations?

Just ignore my responses, I was reading the errors incorrectly.

I am guessing you at least got versions 105.0/.1 or .2 working first before updating to 105.3? If so, then safe mode should have kicked in if it works as planned.

Are you waiting long enough for it to start up?

I believe I was at 105 version but don’t know exactly. I upgraded late last week I think and then last night. I’ve waited an hour or so and still get the unhappy blue house screen. Unable to connect to home assistant. I’m trying to look at the log of entries that pass by as the pi boots to see if anything looks amiss but it scrolls too fast.

Supervisor is 3.2.8. I believe I saw that a 3.2.9 was available before the interface bricked. Any way to do the updates again from the ha prompt?
