Strange things are going on here. I have HA installed on Proxmox since quite some time. Recently I enabled access via the cloud so I can use the mobile on the go.
I can still access HA via the IP address (http://192.168.178.156:8123) and via the hostname (http://homeassistant:8123) but not via the homeassistant.local anymore.
I can ping homeassistant.local and it gives the correct IP address back. What am I missing?
Make sure that you have mDNS (multicast/unicast) enabled on your network(s). This is usually your headend router.
mDNS works. I can ping homeassistant.local from any device and thread/matter also works.
What do you network settings look like on the HA?
It becomes even stranger. I upgraded the OS to 11.0 yesterday. Since then I can’t even access HA via the hostname anymore. It only works via the IP address.
When I ping the host, I get an unknown host reply. When I reboot HA, the hostname resolution works for a few minutes, then it stops again.
For the homeassistant.local I still have the above strange “can’t access” thingy although I can ping the host via the mDNS address.
Update: mystery no.1 - the homeassistant.local thing was solved by deleting the cookie. I noticed the access works in incognito mode.
The other part about the name resolution still persists but I added the homeassistant name statically to the DNS of my pi.hole
