I’m currently migrating from ST to HA and stuck with getting my locks switched over. I un-enrolled them from ST without any issues. When I try to add to ZWave-JS by adding a device, it finds the lock, but then I get this message:
Please enter the 5-digit PIN for your device and verify the rest of the device-specific key matches the one that can be found on your device or the manual.
Actual key redacted above. I’ve been searching for documentation, but I have no idea what it’s looking for. On top of that ZWave-JS crashes a few minutes later too and I need to restart it.
This is for Z-Wave S2 security. Sadly this isn’t documented at all and Google turns up nothing in regards to HomeAssistant. You’ll need to locate the 5 digit DSK (Device Specific Key) printed on the Schlage manual under the QR code.
@tmjpugh - It sounds like you haven’t used HomeAssistant in a long time. The Z-Wave network keys are generated automatically with Z-Wave JS. Also, secure enrollment is automatic as well.
I have resolved the issue. While troubleshooting further, I finally found the label with the 5-digit PIN. Both locks now enrolled successfully. ZWave-JS still showing some incomplete data for the second lock, but HA is able to manage it without issue. Would be helpful if there was a way to suggest looking for that tag to help troubleshoot, but probably not that many people with this setup. ST does not ask for the PIN, so this was new to me.
The key I had to setup manually as I’m using a Docker container for ZWave-JS. That was part of my original setup steps getting the container running.
@snowboardjoe can you explain how you configured your setup manually… I think I am having similar issues. I took a picture of the label behind my lock but I don’t see a 5 digit pin. Are we talking about the programming code?
It appears I may have to repeat the steps as one lock it not looking proper, but I’ll make a new thread for that. I’ll see if I can do a better write up with pics.
As for your question, it’s on the plate behind the cover. You need to remove the two screws first. Then pull that cover slowly away from the door paying attention to the short wires near the bottom. You will see a square label showing the 5-digit PIN in bold along with the entire device ID. That’s the number you need to enter when you enroll.
Also, wanted to note when you pull off the battery cover, there is a small orange button mounted on the circuit board. You can use this button to enroll/unenroll with a nice LED to confirm rather than having to enter the 6-digit programming code.
