I am using an SSD for the HA installation on my RPi4 as well as a 12’ extension for my conbee ii stick. Using ethernet for the networking.
I am having an issue in Deconz as well as ZHA where my Conbee II is not picking up any of the devices I am trying to add. The devices are Sengled lightbulbs (non-wifi), and an Aquara switch. They have been in pairing mode, so that isn’t the issue. I’m not seeing anything in the logs, at least for ZHA. I can redownload and use Deconz if that would be useful as well.
You mention both deconz and ZHA. If you would like to use ZHA, then there should be NO deconz installed, neither the add-on or the integration.
Try and remove all deconz and ZHA. During a reboot HA should auto detect the Conbee2 and suggest to install ZHA.
If you do that, will ZHA integration then start with no errors?
They were never installed at the same time, should have clarified that. Just to double check I removed ZHA and rebooted HA, and still no devices found.
Firmware updated, still no dice. I did get some info in the logs that is new
Currently considering if it’s worth the headache of doing a clean install of HA. Only started a couple days ago and all the devices were relatively easy to get working. It’s just the Zigbee stuff that I can’t get working
Ok, it’s all the obvious you done. Are you sure your devices work?
I was on conbee2 and ZHA until late last year. Moved to the sonoff 3.0 dongle and Z2M, not for any specific reason😎 So, it works, however can not look in my own logs and check.
As far as I can tell it should. I’ve tried putting 4 of the 6 lightbulbs into pairing mode as well as the switch. The only other thing that might not be working is the conbee stick, but it is still showing up in my integrations (automatically) so I’m assuming that that is also working.
There is an install code and MAC address on the outside of the Conbee II box that I haven’t been able to figure out, if that means anything. Perhaps I missed a step somewhere?
How is the stick physically connected to the Rpi? Do you use an extension of some type or is it directly connected?
(edit I went back and saw the extension noted later in the thread, I’d still eliminate rf interference like nearby USB3 devices and 2.4Ghz wifi on overlapping channels.)
It’s ~9 feet away from the Pi. Even when holding it up to one of the lightbulbs while it’s in pairing mode nothing is detected. Not entirely sure how to check if there’s overlap with the wifi, could you elaborate on that? Sorry, I’m new to HA.
No - the channels aren’t direct overlaps they have completely arbitrary channel numbering… Isn’t that fun? When looking at the graph (and yes exactly the one I was about to reference @khvej8 ), the blue lobe is 2.4Ghz Wifi 1, Green is Wifi 6, and Orange is Wifi 11 (the three common consumer wifi 2.4Ghz channels) The RED lobes are the various Zigbee channels 11-26
Your graph is showing both 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz channels. For these purposes ignore the ones 36-48, they’re 5 Ghz. and irrelevant. You have a lot of 6 and 11 - so you want to AVOID any Zigbee channel that overlaps with those green or orange lobes - so Zigbee 11 and 12, anything higher starts to see minor possible interference. There’s some general ‘rules’ of thumb including “It goes to 11” because in a quirk of fate Zigbee 11 and WiFi2.4 11 Do NOT overlap with each other and if that config works for you it’s easy to remember…
Okay, that makes sense! Thanks for the clarification. I tried putting the Conbee on different channels - 15, 20, and 25 where the interference looks like it shouldn’t be as bad per the chart @khvej8 provided. I do see 2.4Ghz devices on my channel 1 as well that just aren’t shown in the screenshot. Still unable to get anything paired to it regardless of what channel the conbee is using.
What actually happens when you press the add new device in ZHA overview (as I do not have ZHA anymore I do not recall the exact wording). Like nothing at all or searching for a long time and time out or?
It shows me this screen for about 3 minutes and does not pop up with any devices. Similar story in Phoscon, where I go to add devices and it sits there for 3 minutes doing nothing.
