I have 9 Z-wave devices, all working, on ZWaveJS. Today I’m unable to include either of 2 new devices. I’ve tried everything multiple times, including having devices right next to the controller.
I enter “Add device” in the ZWaveJS integration and put the device in include mode. Nothing happens. After a while the integration times out with nothing found; the device shows an LED code that inclusion failed. I’ve tried watching the ZWaveJS log in another browser window, level set to Debug, and nothing shows up relative to inclusion; I do see occassional traffic with a couple of sensors.
I’ve tried restarting HA.
I’m out of ideas, the most frustrating thing is having nothing in the logs. Since I’ve failed with 2 devices from 2 manufacturers I’m thinking either ZWaveJS or my Zooz controller is in a bad state.
I’m not familiar with ‘legacy’ inclusion modes - I’m familiar with Secure join and no - but that’s not the issue we’re talking about. Whenever mine ‘gets weird’ the first thing I do is restart ZwaveJS2Mqtt (I’m using the Add-on so I can do that) but I also COMPLETELY PULL my Zstick and let is sit on the counter for 30 seconds to allow the stick to reset. Otherwise it’s usually happily humming along in a powered hub and will never reset itself.
If completely pulling the stick and restarting doesnt help you’ll have to throw ZwaveJS into debug logging and grab some logs while attempting to join to see what’s going on.
After restarting ZWaveJS, updating HASSIO, AND power-cycling the RPi4 and USB stick, I got a successful inclusion. Pretty sure the power cycle did it.
I wasn’t getting anything in the log during an inclusion attempt. Zip. I think that was a symptom of the problem - the controller wasn’t responding to ZWaveJS as it should.
