Unable to set up Home Assistant

Dear all

I am unable to set up the HA

Have plugged in the HA device in my router - I know my router’s IP, have logged in my router, and can see that the HA is one of connected devices with an IP address

However

Anyone can help me, what I am doing wrong?

Thanks

JW

Hello Jan Willem van Kranenburg,

Welcome to the HA Forum.

Can you tell us more about your device?
How long did you wait?
Do you have a keyboard and monitor you can connect to it to see what is happening?

waited > 30 mins
using a desktop PC, as well as ipad/iphone
working from the desktop, with a keyboard + monitor

I do have an IP address for the HA -

If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the web.

other connected devices with IP addresses are

  • Hue lighting
  • TP Link

How did you install home assistant?

Also the install of HAOS if you are using that might take 30min to an hour to set up the disk, depending. It won’t look like it’s doing anything in that time.

I plugged in HA in the router, and then followed the instructions to set up the system.

So maybe have to wait a bit?

If you loaded HAOS, fire it up and wait at least a half hour. If you connect a monitor to it you will see the Home Assistant text banner show with the connection addresses. Otherwise wait a half hour and start trying.
If you have interrupted it, it may have messed it up and you may have to reload and be sure to wait, depending on what it was doing when you pulled the plug.

Done this, still not working - should I reset the HA?

I assume this is what you are doing then yes, it wouldn’t hurt anything…

Please plug a monitor into your server and post the console logs here.
