Unavailable esp and shelly devices after restart of homeassistant

Hello

Since the latest Home Assistant update, which I believe is version 2024.11.x, I’ve been experiencing an issue where some ESP devices and shelly devices show as “unavailable” after restarting Home Assistant. I need to manually reload the device to get it working properly again. If i restart or reboot homeassistant they are unavailable again but next time maybe not the same devices, other esp or shelly devices.

There ist nothing in the log.

Anyone who can help me?

Hi gomble,

Do they stay unavailable, or do values show up when the next internal sensor polling happens?

They stay unavailable till i reload the esp device or the shelly device

Logs please

in the phase where homeassistant is starting?

HA will record all errors from start, just have a look at them

I have already searched through the logs and found nothing.
I also set the logger to debug mode but still found nothing.
I’ll upload the regular log here shortly; maybe you’ll spot something.

Maybe it helps if you give your ESPHome devices a fixed IP (if not done already)?

It’s recommended to provide a static IP for your node, as it can dramatically improve connection times.

Hey i already did that and the device got unavailable too. Shelly did also not work. For some reason, it has been working since today. I’ve already done four restarts today, and everything seems to be functioning again. In the meantime, I had an issue with IPv6 in the network, which I fixed. mDNS was also having problems, but I resolved that as well. It seems to be working now.

Good to hear it is ‘fixed’

(I don’t think ESP’s does IPv6, but mDNS could definitely be an issue  )

yeah i think it was mdns

esphome does ipv6
