I am planning the retro-fitting of a smart underfloor heating system in our home, therefore I would like to ask for some advice from the community as I don’t know too much about such systems. I would have 3 temperature controlled zones upstairs, and one downstairs (some piping sections may be tied together in the control logic to create a zone). Since I wouldn’t want to spend too much on rewiring our house, I wanted to do a wireless thermostat option that doesn’t need a cloud, and I found this solar panel powered LoRaWAN MClimate thermostat that got me interested.
For this to work, I will also need to set up a LoRaWAN bridge (hopefully esp32-based) with some hardware to control the manifolds (pending specs, recommendations are welcome) of the heating zones, which would turn the boiler on and off. This bridge would be accessible from Home Assistant to access the thermostats. I cannot see a readily available MClimate integration for HA at the moment, but the decoding logic for this is available on their website, so it shouldn’t be too difficult to put together a simple addon.
Does anybody see anything wrong with this? Alternatively, perhaps there are other, better options out there that I’ve not considered?
