Unexpected IR commands work on PS4

I use a IR hub and the tuya app to use as a tv remote. Just now i realised that tuya tv remote works with PS4! I can move left, right, up down and select.

How does that work? I thought PS4 uses radio or bluetooth as a protocol.

I guess this would explain it:

The PS4 supports HDMI-CEC, which stands for Consumer Electronics Control. It means you can tell it to obey your HDTV remote's commands. Because the PS4 doesn't have an infrared (IR) sensor, it can't accept remote commands directly, but instead gets instructions sent from your HDTV through the HDMI cable.

It replicates the signals sent through the HDMI cable. Funny i never noticed before one can do this, another avenue to explore with automations.

Interesting. CEC is a definite option for me when I look for a TV.

I had a quirky IR issue the other day… My TV IR Power command, also commands my robovac to move forward 30cm. Took me a while to figure out why the robovac was always leaving the dock.
