In the Unifi Protect integration, for a Protect Camera AI 360 (the type probably does not matter), Home Assistant has created an entity for each detection type as “x detected” as well as an entity “Detections: x”. Examples are in the screenshots. I am sure this is because I have Protect configured to detect Motion as well as Smart motion events (using AI, or so they claim) but that’s the way I need it. Both entities can be used in HA Automations and such. My question is, what is the difference, which belongs to which detection type, and which should I use (does it make a difference). If they yield exactly the same result, ideally I think only one entity type should be exposed in HA, otherwise it becomes convoluted like it is now… Thanks!
At least in my system they do turn on and off independently.
I just list all of the on anything that needs a trigger use the ones you want. Nobody forces you to.
In mine however it’s nice to have a separate chime that ‘you have a package’ or ‘someone is at the door’ instead of ‘there’s motion on the front porch’ (all of these are possible)
Yes you’re at the whim of. Whether unifi fires the right trigger but.
In my system one is a switch and one is a sensor, but I don’t have the 360.
The switch turns the function on and off. The sensor fires on a person being detected. Triggering on entity state and not the device may provide clarity.
The choice beginning with “Detection” is likely the switch. Look at the naming of sensors and switches in the integration page for that camera.
