Features
- Dual Trigger Support: Compatible with both the
Last Doorbell Ringtimestamp sensor (sensor.*_last_doorbell_ring) and the doorbellbinary_sensor. - Smart Restart: If the doorbell is pressed again while the video is streaming, the countdown timer resets rather than cutting off the feed.
- Nighttime Shield: Ignores
unavailableandunknownstate transitions so Nest Hub screens don’t wake up during overnight Home Assistant updates. - Multi-Screen Streaming: Casts to one or multiple Google Nest Hubs or Chromecast displays at the same time.
- Custom Actions Hook: Optionally run extra actions alongside the stream (e.g. pause TV playback, play an indoor chime, or turn on porch lights).
Requirements
- Any UniFi Protect Doorbell paired via the official UniFi Protect Integration.
- One or more Google Nest Hubs or Chromecast media players paired via the Google Cast integration.
Tips for Best Performance
- Google Cast devices play video via HLS (HTTP Live Streaming), which typically buffers for 3–6 seconds before playback begins.
- For best performance and minimal stutter on Nest Hubs, choose your doorbell’s Medium or High Resolution Channel entity.
