For the past several days, I’ve been facing a puzzling issue with Google Home: it’s issuing unnecessary error messages when I control devices connected through Nabu Casa/Home Assistant.
For example, when I say, “Hey Google, turn on the smart fan,” I hear the German error message, “Entschuldigung, das kann ich im Moment nicht machen,” which translates to “Sorry, I can’t do that right now.” Ironically, the smart fan does turn on, rendering the error message entirely unnecessary and misleading.
This issue affects both individual voice commands and Google Home routines that involve Home Assistant devices. It has been consistently occurring for about five days, although there are isolated cases where the problem doesn’t appear. Currently, I’m in a quandary as to whether the fault lies with Home Assistant or Google Home itself.
