I run HA as Supervised, and I just updated Supervisor to the latest version (2024.10.2) and I got a “Unsupported system - Operating System” error with this link.
Can I update Debian from 11 to 12 using the command:
With that advanced installation method you are responsible for maintaining all dependencies.
Look online.
That command is something you should be doing every week or 2 to keep your Debian system up to date so HA works properly and securely, The fact that you are not sure what it does tells me maybe Supervised is not for you.
There are lots and lots of tutorials online to update to Bookworm, that is where you should look.
thanks for your input.
My concern is related to the fact the official link tell you:
The best approach here is to take a full backup of your current installation from the Supervisor panel, then reinstall your host with one of the supported operating systems.
which I think means that it is not suggested to run Debian upgrade, and it is preferred to re-install. Will find a good tutorial to upgrade and follow accordingly.
That is a generic text for unsupported systems that may require a different OS entirely. I do not think it was written to say if it is safe to do a major version upgrade of Debian or not. Having said that, backups should be made periodically anyway, and what is described is the safest way if you want to keep using supervised.
That means that Supervised while is technically supported, it functionally is supported basically not at all the same as core.
Technically you can update to Bookworm and make it work. You are far better off using HAOS or Container install, Especially if you have not done
