Update Hass Operating System Tooling

I noticed today that the shell that Hass OS 7.0 is shipping along with its system tools are antiquated.

When things go wrong it would be nice to have a proper underlying OS toolchain to work with.
It shouldn’t stress a system to run a more modern shell (bash would at least be nice if not zsh) and having VIM with cut/paste version VI version 1.33.1 would be super cool.

Happy to contribute to the process if this is something the community would support.

I believe it is the intent to keep it simple. HassOS is aimed at novice users. Personally i use the docker version because i have much more control :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Appreciate that. I think even more so for novice users exposing them to /bin/sh and vi is a dis-service. Nothing they google will come up with commands for that toolchain. Most people type vi but expect they’re getting some vim variant…this is actual vi
