Update problem OS 3.11 from 3.10

When I try to update the new OS I’m getting an unknown error.

Anyone know what is wrong? Tried multiple times and restarted a couple of times. Getting the same error everytime.

I succesfully updated to 3.11 but it did not changed the hostname as the release notes say… I still have hassio as hostname.

Try shutting the host down (from the system page) and powering up again. Then try the update again.

You can also change the hostname yourself:

Thanks, but what happens if i leave the old hostname?

:man_shrugging:

Now i can’t access home assistant anymore.

Completely shutdown the rpi after shutting down the host. then restart the update and everything works. Thanks!

Well that’s good. You had me worried for a bit there :grimacing:

The hostname warning is only for new installs. Your current hostname does not change. This would effect using http://hassio.local:8123 and that’s why the warning is present, because a new install would use http://homeassistant.local:8123 instead. Also, samba uses this hostname which would in turn require using \\homeassistant and not \\hassio.

You can make the hostname be anything you want. But the default for new installs is now homeassistant. You would not expect the name to change after an update.

You are absolutely right. I didn’t change the hostname. Just a shutdown, reboot and install the update. Thanks for clearing things up!

I tried to update from 2.11 to 3.11 clicked the update button and then nothing.
HA seem to be completely destroyed.
HA is even not visible in the network

I’m now reinstalling HA from scratch. Thank you. Very frustrating

It happened to me exactly the same, I did an update to 3.11 and HASSIO is dead, raspberry is not visible on the net, the famous SAFE MOD doesn’t work.
It didn’t help to turn raspberry on and off three times.

So I did not give up and after 5 hard switching off and on HASSIO is working :joy:. I was just surprised that SAFE MODE didn’t work.

Have you changed your hostname?

It took a while before the RPI was restarted.
Glad to hear your HA is up and running again

hostname is HASSIO

Ok, i installed HAfrom scratch. But it isnot possible to restore a 2 days old snapshot form HA 105.
Installing everything new stopped by installing a backup to deconz. Deconz is not available anymore.

So, how can I get back to my old 103.4?

I had to reboot the host after updating the OS. It was running (I could SSH in) but no front end web service. Thanks @havezel

Everything working now? I’m sorry

I wasn’t being sarcastic. Hearing that you had to reboot after the update helped me reach that conclusion quickly.

All good now.
