"updater" for integrations

Hi,

I’ve noticed that I very rarely resort to opening my apps for various smart gadgets (e.g. Hue or WeMo). Because of that, I don’t really notice updates to firmware/software for these devices. Would it be possible to have home assistant sense this?

I know this is probably something that could vary based on which gadget, but it would be useful for any, so I decided to just ask more generally.

Cheers!

Don’t know anything about wemo, but hue has an automatic update option.

An automatic update without ever launching the hue app? I can’t seem to find that. (Is it perhaps only for newer bridges? I’m on a gen 1).

Hue app > Settings > software update > automatic update > enable > set time (daytime is best because the lights blink if they update).

Sorted.

Nope, sorry.

Hue app > Settings > Software update: It just says “searching for update”. Once done, it says “No update available” and “release notes”. Nothing else to choose :frowning: Are you also on Gen 1 bridge? iOS or Android?

Android, and presumably a gen 2 bridge, I don’t know if I’m honest, square one that’s about 18 months old…

Probably only on newer generations then. Thanks anyway.

I’d still request this for home assistant though, if at all possible?

Educated guess says that if the Hue app can’t do it for older bridges, homeassistant won’t be able to, but you never know  . Way above my head tbh.
