i use haos on an pi3b+ and it is alway a pain in the … when a new update fom ha core is available.
it takes ages and most times i have to unpower the pi, restart and restart the update to finish the update process.
why?

Maybe your system has outgrown the capabilities of the pi?
the only add on in use is IKEA.
has haos become so hungry?
A lot of us with RPI3B+ enjoy a smoother performance by increasing swap file size. Try it to see if it helps your case.
will try, thank you.
This is why I like my docker setup. I keep all configs and data, just update the image.
I even have a toggle setup on my dashboard to automatically run the upgrade task after I review the release logs to make sure i’m not affected by the breaking changes listed.
Been running it like that for over 3 years.
I outgrew my Pi quite a while ago. I would recommend used HP EliteDesk Mini’s found on e-bay for $100-$200 and typically use ~35 watts of power keeping the “server” power usage low. I see an i5 on there for exactly $100 with OS and everything. Really most if not all of the these will be leaps and bounds ahead of the Pi. Really with the current prices, this is a steal when comparing a Pi kit for ~ $75+. The downside to moving off of this is you need to load another OS. The official supported OS for this would be debian. Assuming your running the supervised instance (typical for Pi setups). Operating System - Home Assistant I personally run an unsupported setup with Ubuntu and Home Assistant Supervised but it should be pretty similar. So far with 5 years worth of smart devices and automations, my mini PC has handled all of what HA + NodeRed demands and displays all of my cameras from blue iris in a browser with ease.
raspberry pi3 should not be listed in the recommended hardware, since haos outgrew the performance.
thank you, increasing swap size helped a lot.
