Probably. If there’s nothing there that’s critical, shut down Home Assistant, delete the database (or rename it), and start HA again

Thanks for the quick response. I did rename it, was almost 4G in size, is that normal?

After the reboot all works fine again.

About the critical part, what is typically in the database? I read is history of all devices, any other stuff?

for those who run into the same, here is the docs for the recorder (Recorder - Home Assistant) and what to do is;

The default database engine is SQLite which doesn’t require any configuration. The database is stored in your Home Assistant configuration directory (.homeassistant) and called home-assistant_v2.db.

To start and stop via CLI;

$ hassio homeassistant start
$ hassio homeassistant stop

had the same issue. I forgot the note about the DB migration and got impatient (thinking it had not worked after 5 min so killed docker and restarted. Migration had failed of course.
Ended up deleting the DB and creating a new one which did the trick. I didn’t mind as I export data to influx but I would think people wanting to keep historical data would not be happy with this.
would be nice to know what SQL commands are run for the migration so a manual work around can be done if it failed…
