Upgrading my Home Assistant Green

Hi all,

I’ve been using the Home Assistant Greene for a while now, and while it has worked great, I’m starting to run into some performance issues as I’m building out my Smart Home.

I’ve come across a lot of different systems, Synology NAS, Mini PC’s etc.

I would love to be able to run other things than just HA, so I’m looking for a system that can run VM’s. I’ve had Synology NAS before with great experience, and it seems quite a lot are using them together with HA.

I’m not looking to operate a huge system. Normal size house, 4-6 cameras (Recording and storage) - Something where I don’t have to think about performance issues in the near future.

I use a 7 year old Dell Optiplex 5050. It was 80 bucks on eBay and it does an awesome job with ESP Home builds. I also run all my printers on it.

I don’t keep a gui installed. I used the KVM(virt-install) instructions which I adapted to work better with the zigbee dongle.

Used PC + Proxmox + HAOS (and whatever else you need) using tteck’s scripts is the way.
