UPnP not recognized after migrating from RPI to Proxmox

I was running HOASS for quite some time on a RPI now. Lately I’ve bought myself a mini PC and I put Home Assistant OS on a VM inside Proxmox. And then just uploaded my RPI backups.

I needed to remove and change some hardware related stuff. And I had to pass through some USB devices etc to the HOASS VM.

Everything seems to work again. But the only thing I’m not able to fix is the UPnP.
I used it to monitor some of the router settings and I recently switched to a newer router (before migration).

I see that the new router was recognized (probably still from RPI backup), while it shows the correct name and I see some devices.

But I keep getting a red exclamation mark, saying “Failed setup, will retry” and “device is not discovered”.

If I delete this entry, it’s also not discovered afterwards.

  • UPnP is activated in the router
  • It was recognized by my previous config on the RPI

So I guess it has something to do now while running HOASS in a VM on Proxmox.
But I’m not sure now if I just need to do something with port forwarding in the router now. Like forwarding 8006 to 8123 for instance. Or that I need to passthrough something else in Proxmox.

Maybe people here that are familiar with this?

Thanks in advance!

Hi9 Martin Gerken,

I don’t use VM’s much, but I do know that everything you want to use in the VM has to be passed thru somehow. Are you blocking UPnP thru the VM firewall?

Thanks for your reply.
Well I’m new to VM’s myself. And I already noticed that you need to passthrough some things first to get things working yes. Like the USB-ports, which was actually pretty straight forward to do.
But I’m not sure now if I need to passthrough something in Proxmox now, or that I would need to do something with portforwarding, which also sounds logical in this case.

I wasn’t even sure if this was the right place here to ask, or that I maybe should ask this on the Proxmox forum. But I guess there’re a lot of Proxmox users here.

But probably I need to passthrough someting in Proxmox yes. Going to look for it
