Hi everyone,
I’m planning to build a custom LiFePO4 battery pack for my UPS and could really use some advice.
I have a Green Cell UPS that currently uses two lead-acid batteries. I’d like to replace them with something more reliable and with a longer backup time during power outages.
My idea is to build a 24V LiFePO4 battery pack. Since the original batteries are connected in series, I assume I could either use 8 cells (for 24V) in one pack or two 12V packs with 4 cells each.
i found these 4 cell 50 ah pack for about 120 each.
I’m also considering buying cells from AliExpress, but I’m not sure how to verify if they’re genuine or not.
Another thing I’m unsure about is which BMS (Battery Management System) to use. I want something safe and reliable, but I don’t know what specs I should be looking for.
Can anyone recommend a good BMS and give me any advice on sourcing cells or building the pack?
I obviously want monitoring my pack with home assistant.
I can turn off automatically some devices but i have about 250w consumption and i want to have 1 hour of backup power.
Thanks in advance for your help!
