I grabbed a Dell PowerEdge R330 rack server, probably around 10 years old, when my wife’s company closed. Presumably still functional but don’t know how it’s configured. I have read that it’s pretty efficient (maybe 50 watts). I’m not too knowledgeable about these things; is there a reason to hang onto it, maybe to run a local LLM whenever I take the plunge into that? Or is it total overkill (or maybe way underpowered)? My HA instance runs bare metal on a NUC.
LLM’s run on GPU power, which that is unlikely to have.
