Use KLF200 or KIG 300 to control Velux solar covers?

Don’t know if anyone has the answer to this, but exactly what are the options on integrating Velux (electrical windows with sunshades and remote controllers)?
Who has it working and how?

I think best option is still klf-200

Hi marting,

This is a super helpful write up of your experience with the various options. I currently have the old KLF100 which is driven by a fibaro relay to open/close/stop my windows. However, it does not provide any feedback on a failed opening or current position.

Does the KIG300 report back position of the windows to HA and does it also pass any error messages (like a stuck window which I get occasionally)

It would have been great if the rain sensor was also visible (for other automations) but its not a deal breaker for me.

Thanks

I have the klf200 , it reports back current position from, like, when it rains, they are at 7%
i have integra velux and covers for it, both working
I run a custom component, to also retrieve the limitation (rain sensor), dont think you can do this with kig300

stuck window, i dont know, never had that

thanks for that pergola.fabio

Do you know it the klf200 operates locally or does it use the cloud like the somfy connectivity kit does?

no, its complete local

Sorry to wake this old thread up.
I want to purchase the KLF for controlling my roof window (opening / closing and blinds). Is the window open / close funcionality available in Home Assistant via the KLF Interface?
On the official “Velux Integration” page I only see “Cover”, “Light”, “Scene” as working devices.
I have one roof window with blind + several Somfy iO blinds + several Somfy iO roller shutters.
Today I’ve tested the “Somfy Tahoma Switch” and I hate it. Connecting to the blinds was a hit and miss. And the range is really poor :frowning:

Hey there. I’m running successfully klf200 on VELUX shutter and opening + somfy solar curtains . It can manage anything IO related .

Thanks! Do you also get the control over the tilt angle?
And do you also got the problem I read with the needed reboot of the KLF with every HA reboot?

Concerning the reboot I think there is a script running to reboot but honestly I find it working every time I need it so if the issue is there is not bothering.

Concerning the tilting angle what do you mean exactly , if you refer to VELUX opening angle indeed you can control the opening % on all of the device which I mentioned that correspond to an opening / closing ratio

Thank you for your update.
I have shutters with a variable tilt setting. In Tahoma I can easily set my desired opening value as well as the tilt angle of the shutters.

Got my KLF200 as well as a KIG300 up and running.
I have my issues with both of them.

KLF200

  • there is no indication / state message if the shutters are currently moving. So I have no idea how to make an automation for my wall switch to stop the movement, when pressing a button while it is moving…

KIG300

  • there is in fact a state that tells me it’s moving. But no stop button

Any ideas?

If you use the custom component for Velux, it will indicate opening/closing

Thanks Fabio! This one?

Correct, using that one too

Well, me again
I’ve installed the Velux HACS custom component but after restart I’m getting an error:

Logger: homeassistant.setup
Quelle: setup.py:269
Erstmals aufgetreten: 07:57:56 (1 Vorkommnisse)
Zuletzt protokolliert: 07:57:56

Setup failed for custom integration ‘velux’: Requirements for velux not found: [‘git+https://github.com/pawlizio/pyvlx.git@fire-forgot-issue#pyvlx==0.3.23’

Any idea what these „requirements“ are?

That’s strange, report it to the auther, maybe he deleted it by mistake, it works for me, probably cause that branch was already installed for me

Stupid question… do I need pyvlx as well?

Yes, it’s part of it, but it should install automaticly
The specific version you need to install, you posted before

wasn’t aware of this one, quite good actually as it access also info on klf200 itself. installed smoothly on top of the installation i had already.
