I’m thinking about to replace my philips hue bridge with a raspberry pi 3 and home assistant. Also i use the home kit app for iPhone.
Now, the most annoying part is that i can use my osram smart plug+ only with the philips hue app. Basically i have to open the app and tap on a button to switch it on and off. Its now possible to control it with the home kit app and with siri.
Is this possible with home assistant? Can i set up my osram smart plug+ in home assistant and control it with siri with the home kit plugin?
Yes, either that or you use Hass.io on your Pi to control the hue bridge and its entities. I did that a few days ago and it was more fun and less complicated than I thought.
HA will discover all your hue entities by default, including the osram plug. And then you can use the homekit component (https://www.home-assistant.io/components/homekit/) to propagate them to homekit. Only then you will see all the hue lights twice, once directly through hue-homekit and once via HA. You can change that by using include_entities in your configruation.
