I am new to Home Assistant and would like to use an IKEA Tradfri dimmer to control a lamp. However, I can’t seem to get it set up properly — I feel like I’m missing something. When I add an automation and select the dimmer as a trigger, I can’t choose a button press. Instead, I only see other triggers like “battery level changed” or “firmware updated.”
If I go to the device itself and press a button, it does show up in the logs as expected: “Dimmer woonkamer Toggle event was fired.” Can someone point me in the right direction?
I use a Conbee 2 stick, it was automatically recognized and added. All lamps were also added automatically (first used the system from Domoticz with the deCONZ app). Switches and other sensors (such as temperature sensors) were not automatically added.
If you see that action appearing in the logs, then it should be in the list of device actions.
The actions appear above the battery level and firmware actions, they are not in alphabetical order. Are you sure you just don’t need to scroll up in the list?
I looked again but it is not showing up.
Through the developer tools, I was able to identify the ID and command of the button, and assign it that way. Fortunately, it works now.
