I had everything set up so that each family member’s phone showed their location and controlled automations as they entered and left zones. Suddenly of the three, two family users phones now show as ‘unknown’ not ‘home’ or ‘away’ so location dependent automations don’t work. Mine still works fine. I’m not sure what changed - I’ve checked both apps on their phones and they have location services
On. Any ideas?
Are they android or iOS?
If android - did you follow the in-app instructions to disable battery optimization? If not then the app was probably killed in the background.
If iOS - similar problem but more severe. If memory serves iOS has setting that causes it to first kill and then actually fully disable installed apps that haven’t been actually opened by the user in a while and just run in the background. There’s a way to shut it off but I forget what it is since I did it like two years ago.
Yes both on IOS but the app hasn’t been disabled/deleted - its still on their phones
Do you just mean the icon? My partner has an iphone and location data stopped coming in one day a year or so ago. The icon was still there but when I clicked on it then it took a bit to open and I think it said “restoring” or something, there was a clear delay. It was still installed and looked normal unless opened. Apple had basically fully disabled it since it was doing background stuff but the user hadn’t actually interacted with in a while (since whenever I set it up).
That’s the feature I’m talking about. I don’t have an iPhone so maybe this isn’t a thing anymore. Or maybe that’s not what’s happening to you. Just throwing the idea out since it happened to me.
IOS keep changing the features, I had the same issues, solution is long press the HA icon, select the Option “Send Location” follow the steps, takes a while for the update to happen on HA…
