Using bluetooth dongle on Raspberry pi4

Hello,
Since my raspberry isn’t in a good place to reach my switchbot device and I have a spare bluetooth dongle I was thinking to use this dongle (that maybe has a stronger signal than the buil it one) along with a usb extender.

My dongle is a TP-link UB500 and it seems compatible with the raspberry or at least if I go to

bluetoothtl
list

I can see 2 controllers.

How can I set the external controller to be the default one?
I don’t know if this was related but I’ve tried to set the external dongle using the command:

select <ctrl>

where was changed with my controller mac address but when I rebooted Home Assistant didn’t start at all and gave the error : “Home Assistant CLI not starting jump into emergency console”.
I had to follow this link to make it start again after changing the wifi DNS.

Is there a secure method to set as default and use the BT external dongle?
Thank you in advance
