Using file editor to access /config folder

I am brand new to HA and working through the documentation. I am attempting to follow the steps in Advanced Configuration - Home Assistant

I’ve installed the file editor and am in the web UI. I clicked the folder icon to to open the file browser sidebar. This is where I get lost. The doc says " * Click the configuration.yaml file (in the /config/ folder) to load it into the main file editor window."

But there is no /config/ folder in the side bar. I appear to be in a folder called homeassistant/. There is a back button that when clicked on does nothing. I also can’t tell where the current folder is in the overall file hierarchy. Is this just out of date documentation or am I missing something?

homeassistant/ is the config folder and will contain the configuration.yaml

to go back a folder level in File Editor, ensure you have the configuration in the add_on set correctly

Thank you for confirming that that is the right configuration.yaml file and that homeassistant/ is the same thing as /config/. I’ll leave some feedback on the page. Much appreciated!

I realize you’ve already marked this closed, but you really should edit configuration.yaml is something like Visual Studio Code, so you get colored keywords and formatting identification. It’ll make your life a LOT easier.

It’s available in HA as the add-on “Studio Code Server”, and then you can edit files right from within the HA UI. Super easy.

I’ll be making a video about how to install and use it here shortly on my channel. If I remember, I’ll come back here and post a link in case you had any troubles, or want to switch from whatever it is you’re currently doing.

Fabulous! Please do. Looks like someone missed a documentation change when they changed how that worked last year.
