Hi, I created two switches for my broadlink RM Pro, one to turn on/off my TV and the other to turn on/off my fan. I am able to voice control, using Google Assistant, to turn on/off my TV, but some how I cannot do that for my fan. Both switches can be controlled via the HA frontend.
I’m thinking of circumventing this issue by having Google Assistant call up an IFTTT trigger, which would then call an action to switch.turn_on my switch.fan. Is this a viable solution, and is there a better way? I’ve heard about webhooks, but not sure how it can help.
If you map your fans as switches, you should be able to control them. You do that in customize.yaml by setting google_assistant_type: switch for the entity.
I’m relatively new to Home Assistant but I’ve got a dumb AC unit and use the RM Pro so I may be able to help you. I have set up Google Assistant to turn on/off the AC using IFTTT and it was fairly straight forward for NOOB like me.
Tinkerer has probably solved this but if you’re interested in playing with IFTTT it’s pretty easy to use with webhooks…
