Hi
I’m trying to use some excess Hue Lightstrip Plus with a LED controller, not being the greatest at DIY hardware, I would love if someone could take a look at what I found:
First some tech specs of the Hue Lightstrip Plus (according to what iv’e found around the web):
- 24V
- RGBCWWW LEDs (Red, Green, Blue, Cold White, Warm White)
- Around 0.46A per meter.
- Analog?
I have been looking at two different controllers from china that are 5 channels:
H801 :
- ESP8266 flashable with custom firmware (MQTT)
- Supports 24V / 4A
- Requires external USB to ttl device to flash firmware to be usable (Which USB to ttl device?)
- Uses the flux_led / MagicLight control format (Which currently does not support 5 channel mode, but looks like it’s on it’s way).
- Supports 24V / 4A
- Does not require flashing, but uses a lot of “Magic Values”.
Both would require an external powersupply which I also need to budget for.
These are the questions I currently have:
- Is the information I found correct?
- If both of these controllers would work, which should I choose?
- Anyone have a better solution to my problem?
Thanks
