Using LCARS TNG: Change what colors are used for parts

I’m using the LCARS TNG theme on my dashboard. Is there a way to change what colors are used for various parts? For example, the icons on the buttons for lights and fans are very dark when the devices are turned off (they’re fine when turned on). I’d like to change the default color for the off state without changing them individually.

Similarly, the text in the calendar is hard to read due to a lack of contrast.

You would make your own LCARS theme

Make your own color themes

Custom themes can be created down at the bottom of lcars.yaml. Or, search for “===THEMES”, which will take you right there. To create your own theme, copy the LCARS Default section to the bottom of the file and change the lcars-ui-* and lcars-card-* variables to your liking, using the color references at the top of the file, The LCARS website, or define your own.

Thanks. I’ve continued to research it and had reached the conclusion that I’d need to make a new theme. Is it possible to make it so that my theme is based on LCARS and updates when LCARS is updated – but then retains my changes?

I would say if you are still utilizing the LCARS fields and only changing the color, updates should apply. It appears you are still referencing the main theme file code.

As with anything, there is no guarantee as HA changes color fields names from time to time.
