Using tado° Smart Thermostat X through Matter

Just bagged a kit of 6x Tado X TRV and starter kit for £365 from Amazon FR.

I’d like a 2nd sensor for upstairs. What’s the difference between THERMOSTAT X and temperature sensor X?

Both state wireless and look identical?

Been eyeing these up too, are there any differences if buying from France?

Thermostat is not wireless as it needs a connection to your boiler. The Wireless thing is just a temperature sensor that reports the temperature in a given room, if I’m not mistaken.

On closer look, the French one doesn’t have the hot water button.
Not sure that matters for combo though.

It still says hot water in the description. Might be the uk one supports separate hot water cylinder and french/EU doesn’t.

Just in case that’s not true, I’ve cancelled my French order and gone for Costco 5x TRV & starter bundle £369. Then ordered an extra TRV and wireless sensor from French amazon. (£125 total)

Did anyone look into having the “offset” value available in Home Assistant. Adjusting this value is a more efficient way to control the thermostat. Integrations like Better Thermostat can make use of it. But unfortunately, it is not exposed to Matter. I searched for other forums and they said it is something manufacturers should fix.

Did anyone tinker about this?

Got this Fixed by now… found outi could add the correct Matter Modem to my Phone and after this it was a walk in the park!

For now i am looking to use the Tado Smart schedule for my day to day use but i would like the HA to take over when i am away… i seem only to be posible to set temperature and turn the valves “off” but i would like the temperature to go to “away” mode before schedule when i leave the house but folow the schedule again so my house is warming up again by the time i arive back from work. Wil the Tado app take control of this AFTER i turned down the temperature of turn the valve’s off with HA?

For this I think you have to wait until the Tado integration supports TadoX, then this is easily done…

Thank you, i found out that when i take over the temperature from whitin HA, tado is not returning to planned shchedule… Also i have one thermostat that keeps losing connection… (its not the furthest from the bridge nor even far!) I also lose connection to HA when this happens, Any body else experience connetion issues with one or more thermostats?

I was under the impression whit “matter” that every thermostate makes it own connection to a “bridge”, and so it creates a mesh network via wired devises? (like Zigbee?) so i could use the bridge as a node and my sky connect as a second node? (if one fales the other takes over or i can use one to extend the network) it turns out if i remove the Tado bridge all valves fail( even in HA) so am i correct if i assume that the thermostates only connects to the tado bridge and then this gets translated to the “Matter” network via the tado bridge?

I have also some TRV’s that sometimes loose connection briefly. I’m not too bothered because the Tado schedule is stored locally in there. It usually comes back a few hours later.

While you are theoretically right about the thread border routers forming a mesh, right now I think that they are not on the same network. I haven’t seen options in both HA or in the Tado app to have another router join the Tado network. in which case, you don’t have a mesh. For for this reason I bought an extra Bridge X to make it stable accross the house.

Hello Jelmer, Thank you for the reply! Yes it does not matter if the connection is lost but i feel it hapens a lot on this 1 device! al the others (even further away and with more walls in between the bridge and device!) i have a nice stable connection! I once had the thermostat measure 0° to in a room… but after a quick off/on (battery out in) it was fixed… They are al New and if there are any issues i would like to make use of the 14 days return policy my shop has ;)! I have the experience with Netatmo that they send my device for repare and i was without a thermostate for quite somle time… (also they asked for every small part that came with it… including the different valve adapters i didnt have any more…) about the meshing, i was very surprised about this! Becaus in HA you have to set them up as a “New device” with a different Matter “code” but i gues the HA connects to the bridge wich makes a virtual device with its own code for each thermostate.

Good morning.
I’ve just installed a bridge and two X valve.
They are both connect to the bridge and work fine through tado app.
I’ve also installed and configured matter on my HA.
One valve has been correct paired and work with HA with matter using the “pairing device” button in tado app but the other valve don’t show this button. Why?
Same type same firmware 243.1.
How I can connect it to HA?
Thanks

Update: I disconnected the valve from the app, I’ve done a factory reset of the valve (push 3 second at the power on) and I reconnect it again to the app. Now the “peir device” button is present

I have the same behavior with some of my TRV’s. The wired/wireless thermostats don’t want to connect at all, that makes the whole Matter integration a no-go for me atm.

I’m using HAOS 13.2 on a RPi 4 and have similar issues with the matter addon running into timeouts when connecting Matter over Thread devices:

I have no issues pinging the devices from my laptop.

sysctl -n net.ipv6.conf.end0.accept_ra returns 0
and
cat /proc/config.gz | gunzip | grep CONFIG_IPV6 doesn’t show CONFIG_IPV6_ROUTE_INFO

Today the whole tado setup lost connection… only the bridge is online this has been so for over 2,5h now whatevery i try not a single valve is coming online! Only the room thermostate has its connection back!

Same on Ha setup…

Smells like your bridge/receiver lost internet connection?

Except i have perfect connection with the bridge! It was fixed after my post! and thie moning everything lost connection again… has been so for more then 4 h now.

Only way i get it back online is power cycling the bridge.

I’d get in touch with Tado support, that does not seem normal…

Do you have any sample to use this card? I am mostly interested in the state which isn’t available in HA and cannot be templated AFAIK. The scheduler part also looks nice.

I have just seen these pop back into stock on Costco so might pick them up. Have you had time to install them yet? If so, how are they stacking up against the Wiser setup - OT being my main concern also.
