Using the Ring Alarm Keypad with Home Assistant

So I went through and tested pushing everything from 1-110 into indicator v1 (hopefully I didn’t break anything in the process), and came up with the following on a v1 ring keypad.

For Chimes:
15 - Navi
31 - Harp (Guitar strum)
40 = Beep-boop
47 = wind chime
63 = ding-dong
79 - ring default doorbell twice

For everything:
1 - home and armed, speaks and lights up
2 - away and armed, speaks and lights up
3 - disarmed, speaks and lights up
4 - alarm going off
5 - sensors require bypass
6 - fast alarm chime, spinning red circle
7 - fast alarm chime, spinning red circle
8 - ding-dong with red blinking
15 - Navi
17 - home armed lights up
18 - away armed lights up
19 - disarmed
20 - fire alarm
21 - yellow caution light, blinking checkmark
22 - normal alarm chime speeding up, 12 times total, with red light gradually going out counter-clockwise
23 - normal alarm chime speeding up, 11 times total, with red light gradually going out clockwise
24 - red ring flashes 3 times
31 - Harp (Guitar strum)
33 - home and armed, speaks and lights up
34 - away and armed, speaks and lights up
35 - disarmed, speaks and lights up
37 - sensors require bypass
38 - 18 alarm chimes, 10 normal, pause, then 8 going faster, red light slowly counter-clockwise, then away and armed lit up
39 - 18 alarm chimes, 10 normal, pause, then 8 going faster, red light slowly clockwise, then away and armed lit up
40 = Beep-boop
47 = wind chime
49 - home and armed, no voice
50 - away and armed, no voice
51 - disarmed, silent
53 - no lights for 8 seconds, then back on to whatever it was set to
54 - 26 alarm chimes, 20 normal, 6 faster, red light slowly counter-clockwise then back to previous setting
55 - 26 alarm chimes, 20 normal, 6 faster, red light slowly clockwise then back to previous setting
56 - light goes out for about 3 seconds
63 = ding-dong
70 - 33 alarm chimes, 25 normal, pause, 8 faster, red light slowly counter-clockwise then back to previous setting
71 - 33 alarm chimes, 25 normal, pause, 8 faster, red light slowly clockwise then back to previous setting
79 - ring default doorbell twice
86 - 41 alarm chimes, 33 normal, 8 faster, red light slowly counter-clockwise then back to previous setting
87 - 41 alarm chimes, 33 normal, 8 faster, red light slowly clockwise then back to previous setting
102 - 47 alarm chimes, 41 normal, pause, 8 faster, red light slowly counter-clockwise then back to previous setting
103 - 47 alarm chimes, 41 normal, pause, 8 faster, red light slowly clockwise then back to previous setting

@ImSorryButWho - is there a way to set multiple data fields in a single blueprint? For the V1 keypad, volume is set by a different field (86-112-0-12). Trying to create a secondary blueprint to cover the v1 keypad using your great work for the v2 and the volume is one thing I’m not clear how to address.

Technically the question has little to do with your specific blueprint and it’s more about scripts in general but I’m struggling with the documentation I’ve found so far.

@ImSorryButWho Thank you for all your work!
The Ring v2 keypad is working great with my old z-wave aeotec gen 5 stick. (without a ‘+’)
Make sure you update it too latest firmware on your own risk.

The website states for Gen 5 + but if you read the whole page it is for the 5 without a ‘+’

Used the addon Z-Wave JS UI next too the official Z-wave JS, scanned the QR code on the back off the keypad with my phone and pasted into the S2 security field before adding the device.

Also the Alarmo automation is working great!

Having the same issue, figure it out?

Just don’t use the settings on the device page., restore the settings you changed too default. Or arm and disarm the alarm

For anyone using the ring alarm pad with Alarmo, do you know how to have the keypad show they alarm is set armed when activating Night mode in Alarmo? When I activate Away mode my keypad shows the red armed icon on the keypad. When I activate Night mode, the keypad shows the blue icon as if the alarm is not active.

Yes it’s how this blueprint work.

This is the “water detected”. Use propery 20 with value of 0 to get them to stop.

The keypad will say “water detected”, but the lights will stop flashing.

Did you figure this out? I am trying to find out how to make them stop blinking without the keypad saying “water detected”.

Hi all,

I have the keypad v2 with FW: v2.0.0 and SDK: v7.16.3.
The keypad works fine, until the alarm is triggered. Once the alarm is triggered, the siren and all the other sounds (voice prompts and button press) cannot be heard.

Is this something some else has experienced?

Thank you,

Hi All.

I got MQTT, Alarmo, and the Ring Keypad v2 paired up within Home Assistant. Everything appears to be work except for communicating back to the keypad. I’ve attached the error logs going back to the keypad as a picture.

EDIT: For anyone else in the future that stumbles along this problem, (I suspect because I paired up the keypad before setting up MQTT, I don’t know), I had to remove the keypad from the Z-Wave addon, and re-pair it. Then I went and edited the existing automation to include the new keypad device and it all worked automatically.

Removing the device required to use the pinhole tool on the back of the device for around 5 seconds until you get a red network icon to light up on the front, then I was able to remove it via Z-Wave interface on Home Asistant.

It looks like ZwaveJS doesn’t know that the keypad supports the indicator command class, probably because of a partially failed interview. Try re-interviewing it.

Just edited my previous comment, but it ultimately took removing the device and re-pairing it. Yesterday I re-interviewed a few times and didn’t take. However, once I re-paired it, everything worked by itself without any issues.

I’m looking to integrate this into my HA setup but have a couple of questions.

Do I need Alarmo? I currently use Konnected- not a big deal if so.

Will this work without the base system? I have other ring floodlights and doorbell, but no base system.

I have the zooz 800 stick for my zwavejs configurations. I was hoping someone had a similar configuration.

Any thoughts are appreciated as I’m only a few weeks into HA.

Thanks!

I have the same configuration with alarmo and it’s ok.

Thank you!

It should work fine! I have a very similar setup, with two Ring keypads (and no Ring base) working great with Konnected hardware, Alarmo software, and a Zooz 800 Zwave stick. Alarmo is optional, but highly recommended for coordinating the various elements of an alarm system. Good luck!

Hi all,

First of all, thanks to everyone for the great work and insights in this thread!

I have a quick question:
Is it possible to configure new users and PIN codes directly on the Ring Alarm Keypad (v2) without using the Ring base station or Ring controller?

In other words, can I set or manage PIN codes via Home Assistant or Z-Wave without needing the official Ring hub? If so, could someone point me in the right direction or provide a brief explanation of how to do it?

Thanks in advance!

The keypad doesn’t have any knowledge of whether a code is correct or not. It just informs its controller of what codes the user entered, and displays whatever indications the controller tells it to.

For a more or less turnkey solution to integrating it into a HA powered alarm system, see Synchronize Ring Alarm Keypad v2 with Alarmo .
