Do I need to connect a Thread border router dongle to Home Assistant if my Echo Show 15 (2nd Gen) already has one?
In other words, can I use the Echo Show 15’s built-in Thread border router to add Matter devices to Home Assistant?

You can use the Echo Show 15’s TBR to route packets between its Thread mesh and your LAN. It should be detected and appear (read-only) in the HA Thread settings as long as it’s in the same subnet/vlan as HA.
To add Matter-over-Thread devices to Home Assistant on an Amazon Thread mesh, you will likely need to follow a 2-step process**
** the reason for this is that Amazon does not have a method of syncing its mesh credentials with HA, so only the Alexa app knows the credentials. This could change in newer versions of the app and/or Thread standard.
Hi,
I know this is an old topic but I am having some issue since yesterday. I bought the Matter ikea motion sensor, I paired it through the echo show 15 ( 2nd gen). I am unable to see the QR code to add it to HA. On a side note, when I try to run a routine and try to add that sensor it show that the device is unsupported. Not sure if it’s related or not.
Hi, welcome to the community. One a matter device has been added to a fabric, there are no more QR codes you can use. To share with a second fabric, the app generates a 9-digit sharing code to use in HA commissioning flow if you say, “yes, it’s already in use”.
Hi, I managed to get the code finally but I had to refresh a few times…
