I am about to restart the whole Energy-Tracking Thing, as it just grew along with my HA, but never was clearly structured, and doesn’t always give me the Information i want.
Now, i want to “direct” my SmartPlugs to Utility Meters.
From what i understood, CycleReset for Utility Meter means, that it gets e.g. daily or monthly reset to Zero.
But what would be the Advantages? i can still e.g. take the Daily-Reset Sensor, and get it displayed as Monthly, Yearly, Whatever. In which Cases would you want to use Monthly Sensor instead of a Daily Sensor?
I would never make use of a Monthly Sensor, as i can’t compare it with the actual, not-finished Month. “Last Month: 14.3 kWh, This Month: 0.27 kWh”. Or am i totally messing up something?
Which leads me to the Follow-Up Question:
In Order to compare e.g. the last 7 Days against the last eg 60 Days, i would need get the History-Data of a UtilityMeter.
How can i get the (History-)Values? They are accessible, as it can be visualized by e.g. History Explorer or Statistics-Graph. But how can i access those to make use of them in Templates?
