Yesterday I loaded Tasmota on to a V-TAC VT-5117 (SKU-2753) bulb using OTA method. I did not connect to the Tuya app first to ensure it didn’t update the firmware.
Only issue I have is the brightness of the LED’s. They will not adjust to the full brightness they had pre-tasmota. A shame as I got 15W 1300lm for a reason, and now it is the same as my 10W 1000lm Aisirer bulb The risk you take for trying an unproven device!
Hello Martin. I found this post and was wondering if you ever got this working properly? I had the same problem with globes branded “Arlec”. I found a workaround. If I used the brightness and hue slider controls and moved them to their extremes, then after doing so the globes would regain their original intensity. I’m away from home at the moment and can’t replicate the actual combination of moves, but have a play anyway. The good thing is that the globes seem to remember the configuration after doing this trick.
Hello Russ, I am really sorry for my late response as I haven’t been here for a while. Unfortunately, I just moved on and stopped using this brand.
I was using several V-Tac LED light bulbs which I flashed with Tasmota but after about a year they started to fail and within a few months I had 4 failures.
I bought some LVWIT bulbs as replacement but unfortunately I could not flash them with Tasmota
BUT
I was able to set them up using the Tuya app and they are all working great still after about a year
I’m moved the vtac5117 blubs to esphome now after tasmota had a bad day. Working just fine, brightness levels at least as good as tasmota, actually think a little brighter with the available power control.
Hey @martinleonard80 do these bulbs retain settings when power (ie light switch) is switched off then back on? I’ve heard some brands do and others don’t.
Hi @Britespark
It’s been a while since I had the stock firmware on the device, but I believe it did retain previous state (I.e. on/off, colour, etc). With tasmota or esphome this is configurable to a degree.
Cheers,
Martin
Excellent - thanks!
