Following on from the year of the voice, and finding the smallest controller board in the form of the M5Stack Atom Echo I finally was able to begin working on my Star Trek alike ComBadge project. Something that i wanted to have for years now.
This device should work independent of any WIFI or telephone network or and should be able to be used in all kind of places.
It should be used as a voice assistant service and intercom/walki-talki between devices.
My first attempts was about 10 years or so was based on Bluetooth sadly the number of devices connected devices was to little and i found a lot of other issue, that I could not overcome myself. 2 Years ago i learned about ESP-NOW. An easy way to communicate between different esp devices. based on that i made my first layer above ESP-NOW named Now-Talk it exist of a protocol that does connect to a switchboard device which handles the connection between devices and home assistant. With the arrival of the media-player and later the voice-assistant components my plan could be achieve more easily.
After a 10 iteration’s of the badge and hardware configuration’s I now have a working prototype.
It currently exist of the M5Stack Atom Echo as controller board, a 300 mAh rechargeable battery, a charger board (the https://aliexpress.com/item/1005005374601945.html) and a new and bigger speaker for better audio.
At first it will work as common Voice-Assistant interface, based on the esphome code. Later I will start implementing the the esp-now and NowTalk communication protocols.
My Idea is to sell the device. When you interested please let me know.
