Variable speed A/C motor controller (for an exhaust / whole house fan)

I’m looking at getting a large exhaust fan such as https://hvacdirect.com/canarm-12-inch-direct-drive-variable-speed-standard-exhaust-fan-s12-evd.html to use as a whole house fan. What is a good controller I can get for it that can control the speed of the fan from Home Assistant? It could be Zigbee, Z-wave, etc, and it would need to work with at least a 4 amp 115v fan. It could be either an inline switch, or a wall switch would be fine also.

You will probably not find an off the shelf solution for this given your power requirements. Most “smart” fan speed control devices (i.e. that you’ll be able to integrate in HASS) top-off at 2 or 2.5 amps and there’s a lot of options to choose from in that range…

Therefore, my suggestion would be install a twin fan system with two smart controllers instead of just one big fan.
